120 West in California
These first four were scanned from slides I took on 1/20/1990. This was
a super two highway back then. It had been a detour of I5 from 120 to
Sacramento in the 1970s. Manteca was a lot smaller in 1990 than in 1998.
This is getting closer to I5. This route had been US50 in the past. It
became a wider freeway near I5.
These next four are by Trevor Carrier from May 2007, on 120
between 99 and I5. This was US50 a long time ago. Until the 1990s it
was a super two freeway (two lanes total and divided.) US50 followed
present day I5 to I205, then to I580. These are in San Joaquin County.
There was a grass fire here just before the photos were taken.
This area has seen a housing boom over the past twenty years,
in Manteca.
This fire scene was put out maybe ten minutes earlier.
This is getting onto I5 South. I think these two are old US highway
bridges. US50 might have been on this and also US399 ran from Ventura
to Tracy. This is scanned off slides.
