Interstate 5 North in Kern County
Going Down Grapevine Grade. This part of I5 is formerly known
as
US99 up to present day 99. Here the freeway goes over a fairly steep
pass and drops down a
few
others quickly to reach the Central Valley below. The change in
landscape is
dramatic.
This pass has been closed many times thanks to snow storms. In the
spring
this area can still be quite cold because of the elevation.

This is a steeper downgrade than it appears to be. There is a lake to
the right.

Several mountain ranges come together near here.

The purplish glow in the distance is tule fog over Kern County.
