Monterey Highway Northbound

Gilroy to Morgan Hill

The speed limit drops to 35. There will be a test of having only one lane open each way through downtown Morgan Hill.

This is just before Dunne Avenue. After this, Monterey Highway has speed bumps and drops to 25 MPH. The city put up speed bumps on some sections, and a lot of local traffic now uses Butterfield Blvd as a bypass.

George Lionel Baraona had this comment about this stretch of Monterey Highway, within a week of when I uploaded this set originally:

"the reason why the city put speed bumps in downtown because many people walk through it after school, before school, and just to hang out and so people were speeding too much  and so they put the rubber speed bumps in around summer of 04. and since there has been more accidents in downtown."

It's hard to believe this ever used to really be US101!

This is Dunne Avenue. Until about the late 1990s, there was usually little traffic on this in town. In the 1980s there was even less.

This stretch is only 25 MPH, but it stays four lanes wide, and there are speed bumps.
